Konsep Dasar Kurikulum 2004
Siswa Sekolah Menengah Umum (SMU)/ Madrasah Aliyah Negeri

Making syllabi is not easy. We need to think deeply for making syllabi, in this case we talk about syllabi of mathematics. We have six important fundamental principal that we need to pay attention:
1. Chance for learning mathematics for any people
2. Curriculum is not only the set of mathematics subjects, but also can be used to reflect the mathematics’ activity
3. Understand the need of students who learn mathematics
4. Chance for students who learn mathematics to construct their own knowledge
5. Need to use assessment to increase the quality of learning mathematics
6. Use any method of learning that relevant to the material
The six principal above is the base of spanning any syllabi, also spanning the syllabi of curriculum that based on competition. Today, curriculum that based on competition (KBK) is the choice for making education of Indonesia better. There are some reasons why KBK is chosen today:
1. Students have different potency
2. Indonesia is still on low grade of education
3. Competition in globalization era make the strong student will be exist and the weak student will be eliminated
4. We need the standard of competence when student graduate
This KBK focus on the ability of the graduated student, so when the student go to the real life they will have life skill. In this mathematics, logic is the main idea, logic needed in any part of our life, logic is the key for unlock the real life problem. The ability to think logically can be train if students try to solve the problem. Ebbutt and Straker (1995:10-63) defined school mathematics is about: mathematics is about finding pattern and relationship; mathematics is intuition and researsch; mathematics is problem solving; mathematics is the way to communicate.
